Monday Pantry - Winter Steamed Pears

Winter Steamed Pears (Serves 2)

INGREDIENTS
▸ 2 Chinese Pears
▸ 2 Dried Chinese Dates
▸ 4 tbsp Honey
▸ 1 tbsp Lemon Juice

METHOD
1. Prepare the Chinese dates by softening in cold water, slit and remove the pits.
2. Wash the pears and pat dry with paper towels. Cut the top off the pears and set aside (these will become the lid). Remove the core. If desired, cut off a small slice at the bottom so that the pear will stand straight when steaming.
3. Spoon 2 teaspoons of honey into each pear. Add 1 Chinese date each. Place the top back on the pear.
(Optional: Brush the lemon juice over the skin of the pear to prevent discoloration)
4. Set up a steamer, or place a rack for steaming inside a deep pot. Place the pears on a plate and steam for 30 minutes, or until the pears are tender. Serve warm.

關於農曆新年的食品,身為香港人的我們大多只知道蘿白糕、年糕、煎堆、角仔等等。其實中國的傳統慶祝農曆新年的食物有很多,不同地方也有各自的食物。所以我們製作了一張地圖,告訴大家不同區域的人吃哪些食物。

7種酒醉後應該避免吃的食物

農曆新年快將到來,我們一定會和和親友們在一起,大家可能會一起喝個幾杯。可是興致一來,多喝個幾杯便會酒醉。酒醉的時候,胃部會特別不適。因此我們應該避免吃一些食物,讓自己更加難受。美國國立衛生研究院的博士George Koob 告訴我們哪些食物是醉後不該吃的。

1. 朱古力 Chocolate
朱古力裡的咖啡因、油脂和可可粉會加重酸性食物的效果而引發其他的腸胃道問題,大家一定不會希望在這個時候肚子疼吧?

2. 含酒精的甜品 Liquor-laced Dessert
多吃這類甜品只會加重酒醉狀況,不宜再吃。大家可以選擇像是香草冰淇淋或是牛奶做的甜品,可以保護胃和避免肝臟再受到刺激。

3. 柑橘類水果 Orange
這些水果含有豐富的酸性物質會影響消化問題。我們應該選擇香蕉這類含有豐富「鉀」的水果,可以幫助減輕酒精造成的脫水狀況。

4. Marinara Pizza 或含有很多蕃茄大蒜醬的薄餅
酒精會使肌肉鬆開,因此胃裡的食物和消化液沒辦法保持在穩定的位置,這時候如果吃進沾有番茄大蒜醬(通稱莎莎醬或辣椒醬)可能會引起胃食道逆流。如果真的希望吃披薩的話,盡量選擇白披薩,然後用用餐巾紙輕輕把油吸掉,減輕胃的負擔。

5. 辣味食品 Hot Sauce
你已經感到有點酒醉的時候,不建議再吃辣的食物,這可能會讓你的胃感到更加不適。

6. 油炸食物 Fries
油炸的食物裡頭含有大量的鹽,將會導致脫水的情況。

7. 糖果 Candy
跟含鹽量高的食物一樣,吃糖果甜食只會讓人欲喝更多的酒,讓人酒醉得更嚴重。
